The Sun – ‘Sammy 2 Pools’

The Sun - Sammy 2 Pools

With gas and electricity prices on the rise consumers across the nation complained that millionaire bosses of energy firms had no idea of the effect 10 per cent increases had on ordinary people. We discovered that the chief executive of British Gas’ parent company Centrica spends twice the national average energy bill just to heat his swimming pool. Old Etonian and Cambridge graduate Sam Laidlaw also had plans in to his local council for a second ‘pool’, which he later claimed was now going to be used for lilies. It led to him being dubbed ‘Sammy Two Pools’, and the article was published in The Sun on 19 October 2013.
